SKAM2?, Miami Carol City native (by way of Jamaica) is a double-threat of musical and visual artistry. SKAM2? is a seasoned vet, having recorded with such influential lyricists as, Eminem, Raekwon The Chef (Wu-Tang Clan), Ill Bill (La Coka Nostra) and Talib Kweli. He’s also played integral role in the artwork for such albums as Eminem’s “Slim Shady LP”, D-12’s, “Devil’s Night” and A Tribe Called Quest’s “Beat’s Rhymes and Life”, (to name a few). Known world-wide for his classically, sinister illustrations, his music is the perfect counterpart. The sound reads like a heavy-handed fusion of Rock and ferocious wordplay without sounded fabricated or forced. “I grew up off shit like Iron Maiden, Guns & Roses, Operation Ivy and all of that. I wasn’t into rap that much as a kid.” SKAM2? is truly is an artist in every sense of the word, with the unique ability to sonically paint the most vivid or darkest of scenes and then turn around and show it to you.

May 14th, 1985, San Diego, CA; Kaliq Hasan was born to Jamal and Martha. He was named after one of the 99 attributes of Allah. Kaliq is translated from Arabic as creator or one who creates. The name suited him well. As a child Kaliq was heavily involved in visual arts, painting, drawing and writing his way into the Denver School of the Arts by the 8th grade.

Kaliq’s love of hip hop began where his father’s left off. Many Saturday mornings were filled with bus trips to the downtown record stores. Only build for Cuban Linx, Resurrection, Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic; these were the soundtracks of Kaliq’s life.
Despite his love for the music Kaliq never wanted to be an emcee. His father who was at the time producing local acts in the Los Angeles area would bring his son to studio sessions and try to inspire his son to put his poems to rythym, but Kaliq refused to record. He had no intentions of ever making music.

Over the following years Kaliq began performing his rhymes for friends and battling his peers in high school. He recorded his first song at the age of 13 and hasn’t stopped. The name Ocean came from his ability to switch cadences seamlessly, but much of the inspiration behind the name came from a book he read as a child, “Haroun and the Sea of Stories” a fictional tale about an ocean who’s waters were filled with fables that were brought to life when sipped upon. Versatility is his calling card, unique is his style, different is his dimension and universal is his appeal. Ocean’s journey has just begun as an artist and as a man. At 22 years of age Ocean has a definite sense of self and an air of maturity seldom seen in young men his age. A true MC that also understands the importance of commercial success, this young griot’s main focus is making quality music of moral and relevant density.

Ocean has managed to make a mark in Arizona’s Industry, conitnues to make continues hits, his recent release RefResh:mints is just a warm up of whats to come. Those that are close to him say that what he has for his album is definitely going to make a mark like no other. DJ Klever aka Josh Winkler was born on the fourth of July in 1977. Before he could even walk, let alone strut, Josh was spoonfed the world of rhythm by way of his pops, famous blues musician, Juke Joint Johnny. At the tender age of four, Josh received his very first drum set, a ..manimall.. Muppet Show kit that he practiced playing until the skins busted.

Josh’s wonder years were spent like any all-american kid: playing baseball, grinding curbs, and eating apple pie. He distinctly remembers the countless nights snuck out and hit Atlanta’s local skate spots where his rep grew bigger for pushing big tricks.

At the age of sixteen, Josh..s passion for both music and tricks met the world of turntablism and Klever was born. Growing up with a hip hop background, Klever studied djs like Premiere, Cash Money, Afrika Bambaataa and Jazzy Jeff for their mixing and scratching arrangements even as a youngster; but he was also heavily influenced by the wilds of Atlanta and was a regular attendee of Freaknik. There he was intrigued by the booty music of Luke, 2 Live Crew, and Kilo.

By 1997, Klever began relentlessly competing in every local competition possible where he linked up with the Third World Citizens - Faust, Shorty, Shotgun, Craze, and T-Rock. In 2000, Klever seized the national DMC championship title and while at the international DMC competition, he was inducted into the world famous Allies crew, consisting of world-renowned turntablists such as Craze and A-Trak. Shortly after, Klever began traveling the globe a lot with Craze during so, the two released a now cult classic .. Scratch Nerds… Klever began to produce prominent break records for battle djs and producers. In 2001, Klev successfully defended his national DMC title. He then represented the states in London for the international tiltle. Later that year, he also took national ITF title in San Fransisco.

In the past 5 years, Klever has been performing his signature sets non-stop around the world (Taiwan, England, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Australia, Japan, etc). He consistently amazes crowds and party-goers from 60 to 60,000 at world renowned venues such as (but not limited to) Miami..s Ice Palace, Tai Pae..s Ministry of Sound, NYC..s Roxy and Irving Plaza, Club Fabric in London, numerous House of Blues venues throughout the U.S., El Rey Theatre in L.A., and Atlanta..s Tabernacle. He has also showcased his skills at monumental events like the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the Canadian Circa Skateboard Tour, Audiotistic in L.A., and the High Museum in Atlanta.

Klever has seen the future of his hometown because he paints it. Beyond his accredited mastery as a turntablist, his ability to combine crowd-roaring routines and mix sets with his signature party rocking steez has established his name throughout the dj circuit as ..tomorrows dj… He moves crowds in every direction from his roots of crunk, booty, and hip hop to the sweaty sounds of electro, dance-rock, b-more, new-wave, hard rock, and anything worthy to make you rock with finesse

He has released several mix CDs obtaining notoriety from culture heavy hitters such as Turntable Lab and Tablist magazine. He also two immensely popular battle break records with DJ SHOTGUN (former dj for Goodie Mob), Dirty South Breaks and Get Crunk Breaks. More commercially, his talent can be also heard on various production: Rob Swift..s (X-ecutioners) album - Sound Event, Bubba Sparxxx.. - Deliverance. To NBA BALLERS 2: PHENOM.

Not only audibly, KLEVER’s skills have been featured in numerous DVDs: the film Scratch (a DJ documentary awarded at the Sundance Music Festival, A-TRAK..s Sunglasses are a Must, Stanton..s - Step-By-Step (instructional), Tableturn..s - A Great Day In Turntablism, the 2000 & 2001 USA/World DMC Championships, the 2001 ITF USA Championships, 2002 & 2003 USA and JAPAN ALLIES Invitational All Star Beatdown, and the upcoming ALLIES (untitled) self produced DVD.

KLEVER is currently a member of the world famous ALLIES/ammo rec. /STPCHLD crew, He is working on collaborative projects that encompass the street culture lifestyle through music art and fashion. Hailing from Bakersfield, California, brothers Eric and Nick Vidal turned their love of music into a profession in radio. The duo began their radio careers as weekend talent on 1350 AM, a small local station, where the boys hustled to maintain their show by selling advertising to businesses door to door. After proving they had a natural gift for DJ’ing, Bakersfield’s KKXX FM took notice and the two landed a weekend slot earning them their first FM position. Although the two enjoyed a tremendous run in Bakersfield, they knew they had only scratched the surface of their success. The Baka Boyz first made their mark in Los Angeles radio in 1992 at Power 106 with their creation of “Friday Nite Flavas”. This signature specialty show not only remains a mecca for young starving hip hop artists, it quickly propelled the brothers to the prestigious morning show position. Since that time they have continued to influentially impact the hip hop music industry. Their raw talent and passion for originality gave birth not only to live mixing in Los Angeles, but to the inception of “The World Famous Roll Call”. After dominating the ratings in afternoons and the coveted morning show slot at Power for seven years, the duo headed to rival Los Angeles radio station KKBT, The Beat, where they enjoyed continued success hosting afternoons. Feeling the need to expand, The Baka Boyz set their sights north to wake up listeners every morning at KMEL San Francisco. Once again, they controlled the air waves by becoming the 1 morning show in the bay area. Proving that their act is truly a national phenomena, they headed East and they enjoyed success as morning show hosts of Clear Channel’s WMIB in Miami. Now, the dynamic duo is hosting mornings from Rick Dees’ studios in LA for MEC’s XMOR in San Diego. In 2001, they teamed up with Superadio and Gary Bernstein to create their nationally syndicated “Hip Hop Master Mix”, which now broadcasts on over ninety stations from coast to coast. The Baka Boyz audience now tops over 2.5 million listeners weekly, well establishing themselves as hip hop radio gurus and the owners of the most successful mix show in contemporary music radio history. Because they are the architects of the new sound of broadcasting, many have attempted to duplicate the blueprint they have created. Yet, no other mix show has even come close. Eric and Nick were trained by Rick Cummings and other legendary programmers to play the hits along with new music that is on the way to becoming national hits, and surround it all with just the right amount of talk, info, and spectacular production (thanks to super producer J Love ). And that’s part of the story of what makes the Baka Boyz Hip Hop Mastermix number one on over one-third of their affiliates ( 31 at last count! ) . Current syndicator Gary Bernstein’s Oceanic Tradewinds Media Group along with advertising media giant Dial-Global are teaming up to create a huge National Contest called “The Next Hip Hop Star” . Indeed, Eric & Nick’s sharp eye for talent has opened the doors for many to pass through and their dedication to producing a quality show has allowed them to continue to break down barriers in radio. L.A. was awarded streets most upcoming artist after releasing seven mix tapes with over 50,000 units under the H-Town label, which got airplay all over the country. His video (Ain’t Easy) has broadcasted on most video networks. L.A has seven videos displaying his hard work, dedication and passion to the survival of Hip-Hop. He also has a DVD entitled “The Untold Story” which was released in Feb. 2008.

THE WHY:

His upcoming solo album titled “Long Awaited” due this year features some of the hottest vocalist of this generation from Akon to the original Jr. “One Blood” Reid. The beats are banging, the rhymes flow easy and are a true testament to his lyrical power and writing skills. L.A. is a true master of the Hip-Hop craft & culture.
